Welcome to our Class page! . We are a hard working bunch of boys and have settled well into our class. The adults in our class are Sarah, Rukshana, Dave and Ayesha. We are also lucky to have visits from Helen our Speech and Language Therapist, Abbie our music therapist and Dave our fantastic music man.
Our Autumn term at Springfield House School ended with the fun of snow days and Christmas. So now we are in Spring term, waiting for the weather to warm up a bit!
This term our topic is ‘Mini and Mighty’. We will be exploring plants and animals from the mini mouse to the mighty elephant. We will be learning about how plants and animals change and grow. We will be reading ‘The Boy and The Jaguar’ and using this for the basis of lots of writing opportunities. Later in the term we will be growing our own plants and making a trip down to the farm to see baby and adult animals.
We will also be learning about large and tall buildings and structures around the world and making our own structures to measure as part of our maths work.
We are continuing to work with the boys on their interpersonal skills; teaching the children how to work together, how to share and be kind to each other as well as how to manage their feelings when things become difficult. This will be ongoing, as these are things all the boys struggle with.
We had our first horse riding session of 2018 this week, which will continue all year. The children had not forgotten their riding skills over Christmas, thankfully!
As always, a big thank you to parents and carers for your support with your children’s learning, supporting them with reading, and managing their behaviour. Please do not forget to sign or tick the home school book comments, so we know they have been read.
Have a look at our latest photos, which include our Christmas Craft afternoon. We will be adding more as we cover this topic.
