Springfield House Community Special School

PROUD of our Roots

Physical Education

At Springfield House School, we are committed to providing outstanding physical education to all of our pupils, throughout our whole school ethos of PROUD (Positive, Resilient, Open Minded, Understanding, Diverse)

P.E. is an integral part of our curriculum. We believe that the subject inspires all pupils to succeed and excel in physically-demanding activities and helps them to become confident in a way which supports their health and fitness throughout their lives. Therefore, we believe that our children should be physically active every day, whether through Daily Physical Activity, P.E. lessons, lunchtimes or extra-curricular activities. We also believe that children should have the opportunity to compete in sport and other activities that build character and help to embed values such as team-work, fairness and respect.

We offer provision for Championship and Premiership football leagues, in partnership with Aston Villa FC (grass roots), however this is suspended at present due to the Covid restrictions.  In addition to this, we run a weekly gymnastics club run by a qualified gymnastic coach.  Each class also have the opportunity over the academic year to take part in a ten week program of 'Dance Bugs' delivered by an outside provider.  Years 4, 5 and 6 go swimming for a term each academic year.
